User engagement startup CometChat has secured $6.5 Mn (over ₹60 Cr) in a fresh funding round from its existing investor Run Ventures.
The startup intends to utilise the fresh capital to develop AI agents for its clients operating segments like wellness and beauty, healthcare, financial services, hospitality and food services.
“The current fund raise is specifically done to accelerate our AI play… In the last 12 months, we have surpassed 2 Bn messages sent through our platform, launched CometChat AI to transition from a communication infra provider to an AI agent platform,” CometChat cofounder and CEO Anuj Garg said.
Founded in 2010 by Anuj Garg and Anant Garg, CometChat offers businesses a full-stack communications platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that enables them to integrate in-app chats, voice calls and AI copilots into any application or website. Some of its clients include NoBroker, Larsen & Toubro, Deloitte, TransMedics and Sploot, among others.
In a statement, the startup said that it intends to focus on three core areas to drive momentum over the next 12 to 18 months. These will include:
Including the current fundraise, CometChat claims to have raised $21.1 Mn till date. It counts the likes of Signal Peak Ventures (SPV), Matchstick Ventures, Silicon Badia, iSeed Ventures, Range Ventures, Unbound VC, among others, as its investors.
The latest funding round for CometChat has materialised at a time when investor confidence in the enterprise AI and SaaS is surging significantly. For instance, enterprise AI startup Coreworks AI raised $5 Mn in a seed funding round to focus on building its product ‘SuperAnalyst’ earlier this month.
The increased investor interest comes amid a shift in AI adoption from experimentation to deployment. AI-based software deployment is enabling businesses automate operations to help in saving costs while boosting productivity.
This phenomenon is driving demand for AI-native SaaS platforms. At the same time, capital is rotating away from legacy software towards AI-first companies, fuelled by strong funding momentum and fear of missing out on the next major tech cycle.
Enterprises globally are doubling down on agentic AI capabilities, focusing largely on full-scale deployment. Overall, it is predicted that agentic AI will serve as a key driver for enterprise tech adoption moving forward.
